Dropson anti-scale systems solve limescale problems at Hermanas Oblatas Residence in Murcia

The University Residence of the Religiosa Oblata of Santísimo Redentor is located in the centre of the city of Murcia. It opened its doors in 1969 and was completely renovated in 2003. It is located in the heart of the university life of the city, opposite the Campus la Merced and has good communication with the other universities in the city. It has a total of 82 single rooms with bathroom and complete facilities.

Murcia – Area with a high degree of water hardness

The Region of Murcia is considered one of the regions with the highest level of water hardness (+40º) in Spain. Very hard or calcareous water contains a high concentration of calcium carbonate, which is very harmful to building installations.

The main problem we faced was the corrosion of the installations, due to the high concentration of lime and the use of decalcifiers, which made the situation worse.

In addition, the heat exchangers were clogged and caused continuous stoppages in the production of domestic hot water.

Dropson electronic water softener, an effective and innovative solution

The double problem was solved with the installation of a Dropson E.M.I 8000 anti-scale system together with a sediment filter.  The facilities were cleaned up and free of lime.

Blockages in faucets and showerhead sprinklers did not occur again. The heat exchangers were no longer clogged and were working at full capacity, without the need to constantly stop water production in order to clean them and put them back into operation.
